Christmas Toy Drive for Levine Children’s Hospital

Fogle Insurance Group was happy to become a designated toy drop off location this Holiday Season for Levine Children’s Hospital in honor and in memory of Jaylyn. Jaylyn was the son of Jada Mathis, who was born with a congenital heart defect known as hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). Jaylyn sadly passed away at Levine Children’s Hospital, only surviving for 23 days. Approximately 1 in 4,000 babies within the United States are affected by this rare and complex condition. With HLHS, the left side of the heart is severely underdeveloped which does not allow the heart to adequately or sufficiently supply oxygenated blood to the rest the rest of the body. In babies with HLHS, the right side of the heart has to work even harder to to compensate for the left side. A series of surgical procedures to fix this condition have only been around for 40 years and it is a very complex surgery to endure.

Jaylyn’s mother wanted to give back in a way that could honor her sweet baby boy. She was able to create a toy drive in honor of her son to give back to the children at Levine. Reaching out to a number of businesses and churches, we absolutely wanted to be a part of it. From all the toy drop-off locations, over 200 toys were donated. Many sick children who have to spend most of or all of their time at the hospital, don’t get to experience the normality of holidays and we know how hospitals stays and medical care is a high expense for families already going through so much. This toy drive is a way to help make a difference to sick children spending their holidays in the hospital. We hope all the children can enjoy the gifts they receive and that it brings them and their family joy.Thank you, Jada, for holding this toy drive for others in memory of your son.
