Medicare Open Enrollment begins October 15th through December 7th, 2012. This is the annual opportunity for all Medicare recipients to review and change their Medicare health and/or prescription drug plan. If you make a change to your plan, the changes become effective on January 1, 2013.

During this time beneficiaries may enroll in a Medicare Advantage or Medicare Part D plan for the first time. Depending on your current situation, you may change prescription drug plans, change Medicare Advantage plans, or return to Original MedicareA federally funded fee-for-service health plan that lets you go to any doctor, hospital, or other health care supplier who accepts Medicare and is accepting new Medicare patients. Enrollment changes take effect on January 1 of every year.
