What’s up with turning 50, AARP and The Hartford???

What’s really good about turning 50 years old? I’ve been asking myself that a lot since I turned 50 a couple of years ago. As soon as I turned 50, I started getting the mailers to join the AARP – The Association for Retired Persons. Seriously? Isn’t that for old people? And I am nowhere near being retired!  These mailers were food for the shredder.

I never gave joining the AARP much, if any, thought. It’s only $16 a year, but would I even use any of the benefits and discounts it offers? Rarely do I rent a car or travel and stay in a hotel. And I’m really not sure I like shoving an ID card at someone for a discount just because I am now a “senior.”

Then I found out that The Hartford was working toward qualifying Fogle Insurance as an Authorized Agent of The Hartford’s AARP Auto Insurance Program. Curious about what the big deal was, I started reading up on it. AARP members or people considering joining AARP, are given exceptional coverage with affordable rates, with The Hartford as its insurance partner.

The benefits that The Hartford’s AARP Auto Insurance program provides are broad. Among them: Rates that reflect your good, responsible driving record; A 12- month policy rate lock; New car replacement; First Accident Forgiveness and additional savings when you package your homeowners policy too. The Hartford and AARP have been partners since 1984. And when I saw the average savings increase was $367 a year, now that got my attention!

It’s been a long screening and training process, probably close to 12 months, for The Hartford to finally put their stamp of approval on the Fogle Insurance Group to be an AARP Authorized Agent. We’re very proud to be able to offer this program to our clients/prospective clients who are AARP members or would be consider joining for the benefits of the AARP Auto Insurance program. Since most people still prefer to use a local insurance agent, give us a call and let us see what the AARP Auto Insurance Program from the Hartford could do to help you solidify your coverage and save you money.

So, by joining the AARP for $16 a year, I have the potential to save big with The Hartford’s AARP Auto Insurance Program. Hmmm…so maybe being an AARP’er isn’t so daunting after all???
